Usage of General Lighting LED lamps in Europe is forecast to reach 2.9 billion units by 2019, Finds New Report

The report estimates that 288 million LED lamps were used (installed) in 2014 in the European region.  The study provides the market forecast and analysis of LED lamps used for general lighting, including indoor and outdoor accent and functional lighting for residential, commercial and government areas. General Lighting provides the main illumination of an area.  The number of LED lamps installed during the year 2019 is forecast to reach 2.9 billion (lamp) units, representing an impressive average annual growth rate of 58.7% (2014-2019), which is slightly faster than another research forecast for the United States of America for the same timeframe.

This market report provides the total consumption of LED-based general lighting lamps in the Europe, segmented by the four (4) sub-regions, as identified by the United Nations geoscheme: Northern, Eastern, Western and Southern Europe.

This research report forecasts that Western Europe will maintain the leadership role in relative market share throughout the review/forecast period, use of LED lamps in General Lighting in Western Europe represented nearly 48 percent market share in terms of unit volume in 2014. The use of LED Lamps in general lighting in Northern Europe is forecast to increase at a slower pace versus Western Europe. Southern and Eastern Europe are forecast to trail the market leaders; however, both the Southern and Eastern Europe sub-regions are forecast to grow at a faster annual rate versus the other two sub-regions.

The market forecast is also segmented by major lamp types: Parabolic aluminized reflector (PAR), General Service lamps/Decorative, Multifaceted reflector (MR) Compatible, Tube and tape, Street-lights, High-Bay, and other/miscellaneous LED lighting. 

According to this report, the European consumption value of LED-based general lighting lamps in Europe reached USD 1 billion in 2014. The Commercial/ Industrial user category is forecast to dominate in terms of relative market share during the 2014-2019 timeline; however, both the Government and the Residential/Non-Specific are forecast for faster annual growth. The Commercial/ Industrial group is especially strong in the PAR lamps, MR lamps and (near-term) General Service lamps; Government is forecast to be a relative heavy user in the streetlight product category; Residential consumption is forecast with relative strong use in the General Service and MR lamp types.
