India, Mexico and Romania Information Technology Report Q2 2016; New Report Launched

India, Mexico and Romania Information Technology Report Q2 2016

We have a bullish outlook for India's IT market over the medium term based on a combination of a strong economic growth forecast, particularly rising household incomes and the low penetration rates for devices and solutions. The retail hardware market is expected to deepen considerably, which will drive PC volume growth, while also indirectly supporting enterprise investment in software and services through strong sentiment.

The opportunity in India is large, even compared to other emerging markets in APAC, with much lower penetration rates, making it stand out as a medium-term growth prospect - and even
beyond 2020. We forecast an IT spending CAGR of 11.0% over 2016-2020 to almost INR3.6trn in 2020.

Latest Updates And Industry Developments
  • Computer Hardware Sales: INR1.1trn in 2016 to INR1.7trn in 2020, corresponding to a CAGR of 8.3%. Rising incomes the foundation for robust medium term outlook, with further upside if computer hardware incentives are extended under the 'Make In India' initiative.
  • Software Sales: INR310bn in 2016 to INR484bn in 2020, a CAGR of 11.8%. Underpenetrated market will be deepened by supply of cloud services, with huge potential in the SME segment, and verticals such as financial services will be lucrative for vendors of more complex solutions.
  • IT Services Sales: INR837bn in 2016 to INR1.4trn in 2020. The services market has strong momentum and will be supplemented by the fast-expanding market for Internet of Things smart services over the medium term.

Latest Updates & Industry Developments
  • Computer Hardware Sales: will increase from MXN117.8bn in 2016 to MXN150.0bn in 2020 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.1%. Household income growth will underpin a robust expansion of the PC market in value and volume terms, while enterprise hardware spending is expected to accelerate as business sentiment strengthens.
  • Software Sales: will increase from MXN65.7bn in 2016 to MXN93.0bn in 2020 at a CAGR of 9.1%. Enterprise application spending is expected to grow as the wider availability of software-as-a-service deepens the market; positive spill over for cybersecurity solutions is also envisaged.
  • IT Services Sales: will increase from MXN107.2bn in 2016 to MXN154.8bn in 2020 at a CAGR of 9.6%. Infrastructure cloud service growth is expected to outperform as telecoms infrastructure is upgraded and as competition strengthens in the wake of new regulations.

After a dip in IT market performance in Romania in 2015 we expect the market to exhibit stronger growth from 2016 to 2020. Device and solution penetration remains some way below the European average in Romania, and as the economy gathers momentum we believe vendors will be able to target relatively strong growth from convergence trends. The increasingly affluence of the middle class in Romania is highlighted, and we believe of greatest significance to personal device vendors, ie tablets, notebooks and hybrids. Meanwhile, the enterprise application market has considerable potential in ERP and CRM, and lower cost cloud providers could make gains in market share by tapping this underpenetrated opportunity. For the Romanian IT market as a whole we forecast a CAGR of 7.2% over 2016-2020 to almost RON7.7bn.

Latest Updates & Industry Developments
  • Hardware Sales: from RON3.1bn in 2016 to RON3.8bn in 2020, corresponding to a CAGR of 5.3%. The market turned down in 2015 as economic downside exacerbated the product cycle, but we expect stronger medium term performance as the middle class becomes increasingly affluent.
  • Software Sales: from RON1.3bn in 2016 to RON1.8bn in 2020, a CAGR of 8.6%. Relatively low penetration of enterprise applications opens the door to strong catch-up growth as cloud delivered ERP and CRM solutions deepen the market.
  • IT Services: from RON1.5bn in 2016 to RON2.1bn in 2020, a CAGR of 9.7%. Cloud computing and outsourcing adoption by local enterprises will drive expansion of the services segment, supplementing traditional revenue sources such as consulting and systems integration.
